How To Clean An Bathtub

If not cleaned regularly after use, baths can soon form a buildup of soap scum, grime and unsightly stains – not great when you fancy a long, hot soak! So we’re here to share our tips on how to keep your bathtub sparkly clean

Equipment Needed:

For a quick clean:

Step 1:

Wearing rubber gloves, remove any hair in the drain.

Step 2:

Simply rinse the bath out with clean, warm water and wipe away any excess moisture with a cloth.

For a deeper clean:

Step 1:

If your bath is made from porcelain coating, use a mildly abrasive cleaner and leave it to soak in for a while. If you have an acrylic bath, use a non-abrasive bath cleaner.

Step 2:

Following this, scrub the inside of the entire bath with either a scrubbing brush or a sponge - depending on how bad the stains are.

Step 3:

If your bath is acrylic then avoid using anything abrasive, such as scouring pads or pumice stones. Porcelain baths are more durable and can withstand rougher cleaning techniques without damaging the bath.

Step 4:

If there are any stubborn stains that will not disappear, try sprinkling some baking soda onto a damp sponge and gently scrubbing the area to lift the stain.

Step 5:

Use a toothbrush to remove any hard to reach grime, such as around the taps and underneath any shower screens, if you use your bath as a shower as well.

Step 6:

Rinse down the whole bath, removing any cleaner that has been used and dry off with a clean, dry cloth.
